Plants - Early Spring

Lords and Ladies

The bright single green leaf of this plant resembles in size and shape a upright semi cupped hand. The thin brown cigar like stamen can clearly be seen in the centre. This plant grows on the woodland floor and along damper hedgerow, once you find this plant you'll notice it more and more often - usually in small clusters

Cowslips

By the end of April the clumps of yellow, droopy headed Cowslips can be seen on verges, playing fields and verges throughout the area. Cowslips have had a resurgence since picking of spring blooms has been frowned upon and criminalised. Look out for these lovely flowers whenever you are out and share your best sites on the sightings page
