The bright single green leaf of this plant
resembles in size and shape a upright semi cupped hand. The
thin brown cigar like stamen can clearly be seen in the
centre. This plant grows on the woodland floor and along
damper hedgerow, once you find this plant you'll notice it
more and more often - usually in small clusters

Cowslips
By the end of April the clumps of yellow, droopy headed
Cowslips can be seen on verges, playing fields and verges
throughout the area. Cowslips have had a resurgence since
picking of spring blooms has been frowned upon and
criminalised. Look out for these lovely flowers whenever
you are out and share your best sites on the
sightings page

Flag Iris
Towards the end of April great swathes of lush greenery on
wet,boggy edges on river banks and seasonal pools on the
washland, or flood plain, start to dot with yellow as the
flamboyant flowers at the top of the tall of the reedy
greenery of the Flag iris come into bloom
